A 4-channel 5.04 μW 0.325 mm2 Orthogonal Sampling-Based Parallel Neural Recording System

Description

Orthogonal sampling enables reducing the number of the ADCs in conventional recording systems into one single unit. Consequently, the ADC bandwidth and dynamic range is effectively employed and shared between all the channels without any loss in the temporal information of the channels during sampling, which is not the case of time-multiplexed ADCs. A 4-channel neural recording system based on orthogonal sampling is implemented in a 0.18 μm technology with a power consumption of 1.26 μW per channel supplied at 0.8 V to validate the proposed methodology.
